We are the Prairie-Chix; a newly formed running club in Colstrip Montana. Our desire is to promote mental and physical health through exercise and fun! We enjoy the common bond of faith, family, friendship, and the love of life.
Our first team event was the Headwaters Relay, a 3-day, 232 mile relay race through 3 mountain ranges from Three Forks Montana to Island Park Idaho. Although we finished last, we were given the Team Spirit award! Remember, last place means that we FINISHED! The tremendous support from our families and our community made this all possible. We ran approximately 23 miles each in 3 days on about 15 hours of sleep. Awesome!
Our short term goal was to establish this running club by entering local races, and supporting other runners in our community with coaching and training advice. Our long term goal is to provide support to the women and their families in our community by hosting local events and annual fund-raisers. Our first year was a busy one with our runners planning, organizing and hosting 2 events, the Trick or Trot and the Jingle Bell Jog. Proceeds from the Jingle Bell Jog were donated to families in our community.
This year we will host a “Getting started Clinic” in preparation for the Montana Women’s Run in May and a pre-race pasta dinner. We are also planning on supporting races in our community and state.
Ain’t nobody happy if Mamma ain’t happy! Get movin with the Chix towards a happier, healthier lifestyle.
Thank you for your support.
Sincerely,
Seana Lee Borsheim, Chairman
