It was a dreary winter’s day in Colstrip, the women were restless. "I don't have enough to do" exclaimed Deann, "how could I make my life more hectic and even busier than I dreamed possible?"
In reply, Stacey shared her epiphany of organizing a group of highly trained athletes, {skills honed to perfection from years of specialized workouts and strict adherence to a Zen-like attitude of optimism}, to compete against seasoned endurance teams, highly motivated cross country teams and pizza delivery boys in a 232 mile trail run through the mountains and valleys of Montana. Whew! Deann was struck by the simplicity of this concept. Sure, why not?
So the game was on, how do we find woman of this caliber? Who else would be interested? They approached the more dedicated exercise class participants...{Those of us that were too exhausted to leave class right away} and began tirelessly interviewing dozens of well qualified candidates, {okay, they used peer pressure, begging and bribery in the form of lattes} and selected the best of the best, ten strong, brave, fearless woman who became the Prairie-Chix!
We all enthusiastically agreed that it would be easy enough to find time to train, we'd just work around our jobs, family time, our kids assorted extra-curricular activities, commitments to church and community projects, etc. No sweat.
The Prairie-Chix hit the road! And the treadmills, the bike paths, the highway, the trails, the stairmaster…
