Just a few memories that I have from the headwaters relay.....
I rember waking up the first morning, oh about 4:30 am or so looking out my little window from the bunk I shared with Kelsie, and seeing Tina with her headlamp on getting ready for the first leg, I thought "what am I doing!!!" I went outside, there is Seana with coffee, what an angel, and here are all these ladies with so much positive energy and excitment. Wow I get to be a part of this. Many times during this 3 day scavenger hunt for our trails, I would think, "can I do this?" Am I going to make it? Thanks to such amazing women I felt inspired to run the best I could every day, even on about 4 hours of sleep. I have never ran so long, so hard and on such little sleep. The whole relay was amazing and when I look back I don't think much about the running I did, but mostly about laughing alot, about how excited everyone was day after day, how everytime someone came in from their leg there was a group cheering for them like they just broke a record. That to me was amazing!!! I remember Tina so tired and sore I think it was the second day yet she pushed through.(with awesome time like always) I remember Seana and Stacey dominating that 6 mile mountain by the mine, and Kris climbing a hill so long and tall even in the car it looked awful, and Kelsie taking a detour off the highway to go for a dip, (ha ha she always makes me laugh), and Tanya running with such ease and pretty flowers in her hair, Joey and Gus making every 7 mile run look so easy, and Nicole running down that 6 mile hill shirt off and smiling the whole way. There will be many memories from this run that I will never forget, but being able to do all of this with such amazing women, each in their own way is the best memory of all!! And of corse I'm forever greatful to the hubbies that set up and took down camp every day, without them I'm not sure if we would have been able to just focus on us, therefore we might not have had such great memories, so thanks for being such a big help!!
